FAQS

Where can I use these wall lights?

These wall lights are designed for indoor spaces where both style and functionality matter. The fitting is IP44 rated and the shade has a secondary seal. We recommend them as suitable for bathrooms (outside of zone), powder rooms, hallways, bedrooms, living areas, and covered outdoor spaces that are protected from direct weather exposure or coastal environments) when fitted by a qualified electrician.

Terracotta shades are not recommended for areas that have constant moisture/ damp use only in living spaces, bedrooms and powder rooms not shower or bathrooms.

Is a 3W LED globe bright enough?

A quality 3W LED globe typically produces around 250–350 lumens, depending on the globe you choose. This provides soft, comfortable lighting that's ideal for creating ambience, accent lighting, or supplementing your room's main lighting.

Can I apply makeup using these wall lights?

Yes, when used correctly. For the best makeup lighting, install one wall light on either side of the mirror at approximately eye level. Using two sconces placed evenly on each side of a mirror creates balanced lighting across your face, reducing shadows and making everyday tasks like shaving, skincare, and makeup application much easier. If you need brighter task lighting, choose a high-quality 3W LED globe with the highest lumen output available and pair the sconces with overhead lighting, a ceiling light or a ceiling spotlight light that bounces light off your mirror and back onto your face to cancel out any shadows.

Where should wall sconces be positioned?

For most applications here are some suggestions:

  • Beside a bathroom mirror: around 160–170 cm from the floor to the centre of the fitting. There are requirements that your electrician / interior designer or architect will follow to ensure lighting is compliant distance from sinks, baths and showers.
  • Either side of the mirror: approximately 75–100 cm apart, depending on mirror size.
  • Beside a bed: generally 90–120 cm above the mattress.
  • Hallways or feature walls: around 165–180 cm to the centre of the fitting.

Positioning may vary depending on ceiling height and the intended look.

How can I create a warm, ambient feel?

Choose a warm white LED globe (around 2700K–3000K). Warm white lighting creates a cosy atmosphere in bedrooms, living spaces, and bathrooms while complementing the soft glow of the glass globe.

Which LED globe should I choose?

Use only a G9 LED globe with a maximum power of 3W, as specified for the fitting. Selecting a quality LED globe from a reputable manufacturer will provide better brightness, colour consistency, and longevity. If you are using a dimmer switch you will need to purchase a globe that works with a dimmer

Can I use a higher wattage globe for more light?

No. Do not exceed the maximum recommended 3W LED globe. Using a higher wattage may damage the fitting, reduce its lifespan, and void the warranty.

What colour temperature is best?

  • 2700K: Warm, relaxing ambience.
  • 3000K: Warm white with a slightly brighter appearance, ideal for bathrooms and bedrooms.
  • 4000K: Neutral white, suitable if you prefer a cleaner, brighter look for grooming tasks.

How do I clean the light?

Turn off the power and allow the fitting to cool. Dust gently with a soft duster or wipe gently with a soft microfibre cloth.

Are these wall lights suitable as the only light source in a bathroom?

Generally, no. Lighting is a layering of different types to create ambience and task lighting. While they provide excellent accent and vanity lighting, they are best used alongside ceiling lights or ceiling spotlights to achieve the recommended overall bathroom illumination.
