Where can I buy Takeawei Ceramics?

Shipping

 

How long does it take for my on line order to be shipped?

 

We ship items twice per week. The arrival of your parcel will depend on where it is being sent. For parcels within Australia it is generally 2-5 business days and International 5-7 business days. You will be issued a tracking number once your order is sent so you can keep up to date with its travels.

 

How are my items shipped?

 

Items are shipped with Australia post. We can ship Takeawei creations to you anywhere. Your shipping rates will be calculated at the checkout. Your shipping price will depend on the size and weight of your order, as well as your location.

As we deal with ceramics we take a lot of care packing your items. This is why sometimes our postage costs are a little higher than if we were shipping non-fragile items.

 

Australia Parcels

We use Australia Post and signature on delivery. If you are not home when your delivery arrives it will be left at the post office for your collection. You may want it sent to your workplace address is this is not suitable or ask for your parcel to be left at your door if you do not want signature on delivery. Please note we are not responsible for missing parcels if you choose to opt out of signature on delivery.

 

International Parcels

We use Australia Post international pack and track to ship your items and for most destinations it will take 5-7 business days to arrive. You will be provided a tracking number to check the status of your package.

 

What is Your Returns Policy?

 

All ceramics are checked and in good order before they are sent to you.


We do not accept returns for change of mind or ceramics damaged after use.

 

We do accept returns on items that have been damaged during shipping. If your item arrives to you damaged please contact us within 48 hours with photographs of the damage and the outer box (we need these to claim delivery insurance). If we can replace it with something you are happy with, we will. Otherwise we will refund your purchase and postage in full.

Takeawei tableware is made from high-fired stoneware using only food safe materials. Tableware includes tumblers, mugs, bowls and plates.

 How do I best care for my hand made ceramic pieces?

 

Takeawei ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe, but you still need to handle with care - they are ceramic and fragile by nature. Please make sure your handles don’t get bumped in the dishwasher, on taps or in the cupboard.

As with all ceramics thermal shock can result in cracking so please don’t heat and then cool your ceramics too quickly. 

When a ceramic piece reaches the end of its lifecycle as a mug or cup we recommend re-purposing as a pencil holder or planter.

The Studio is not open to the public but is open half an hour prior to each class for the purchase of clay supplies.

 

What time does my class start?

What if I book a class and I can’t attend?

 

Please check you are still available for the dates you have booked for, as bookings will not be credited unless another student on a wait list can fill your place in the course. Be sure to give us as much notice as possible. If filled by another student, you will receive a course credit. No refunds will be issued. However, you are more than welcome to send someone in your place.

 

Can I make up a missed class?

 

If you are booked into a 6-week course and you cannot make a session you can choose 1 x make-up session per course from future class dates on any day, provided there is a wheel available. Please give us notice in an email at hello@takeawei with your make up class preferences. You will need to confirm your attendance at the make up class to ensure the place is kept open for you and not allocated to another student.

 

There are strictly no refunds issued for classes that cannot be attended by the student.

 

What do I need to bring to a class?

 

Clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, we find an old shirt and apron work best. We will have the heater on before class but you may find a beanie and warm clothes best is it’s winter

 

Closed toe shoes

 

Bring your tools if you have them or you may purchase a starter kit from the studio for $20. A towel, a large Tupperware container or small bucket with lid to recycle your clay in, a container to store your tool kit in (yogurt container, pencil box etc.), a marker to label your tools.

 

Bring inspiration images/sketches if you have something you would like to make, I will have a folder for each of you for notes during the course.

 

Food and drink if you feel you may get peckish - eat away from clay area

 

Tool Sets

 

You can purchase a tool set at your first class for $20 – please bring cash as there are no card facilities onsite.

You can purchase extra clay for $25 for stoneware #33 and Stoneware #7

 

Purchasing Takeawei Ceramics

 

Students are welcome to purchase Takeawei Ceramic pieces during class and half an hour prior to class start times. Cash is preferred.

 

When can I collect my finished pieces?

 

One Day Class

 

You will receive an email letting you know when you can come and pick up your finished pieces usually five to six weeks after your class.

 

6 week Class

 

Chela will let you know during your class time when you can come and pick up your finished pieces.
